Canadian COVID Genomics Network (CanCOGeN)

April 23, 2020

Genome Canada launched the Canadian COVID Genomics Network (CanCOGeN), a newly formed initiative backed by $40 million in federal funding. Led by Genome Canada, in partnership with the six regional Genome Centres, national and provincial public health labs, genome sequencing centres through CGEn, hospitals, universities and the private sector, CanCOGeN will coordinate and scale up existing genomics-based COVID-19 research in Canada and internationally in order to accelerate public impact.

CGEn - Canada's National Platform for Genome Sequencing & Analysis

April 23, 2020

CGEn is a federally funded national platform for genome sequencing and analysis. Established in 2014, CGEn employs over 200 staff, and is funded primarily by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) through its Major Science Initiatives Fund (MSI), leveraging investments from Genome Canada and other stakeholders. CGEn operates as an integrated national platform with nodes in Toronto, Montréal, and Vancouver, providing genomic services, including genome sequencing and analysis, that enable research in agriculture, forestry, fishery, the environment, health sciences, and many other disciplines of interest to Canadians.

Nextstrain

April 23, 2020

Nextstrain is an open-source project to harness the scientific and public health potential of pathogen genome data. We provide a continually-updated view of publicly available data alongside powerful analytic and visualization tools for use by the community. Our goal is to aid epidemiological understanding and improve outbreak response

COVID-19 Genotyping Tool (CGT)

April 23, 2020

The COVID-19 Genotyping Tool (CGT) is a visualization toolbox for SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequencing data. Public sequences from GISAID is preloaded for inspection, and users have the option of uploading in-house SARS-CoV-2 sequencing data for concurrent analysis with public data.
